INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION

QUEEN ELIZABETH DRIVE, ESPLANADE PARK

14 JAN - 3 FEB 2022

PART OF 'CURIOCITY: PLACES & PERSPECTIVES' AND LIGHT TO NIGHT FESTIVAL 2022

INSPIRED BY KOLEK LUMBA (SMALL SAILING BOAT RACE) HELD DURING 'NEW YEAR SEA SPORTS' IN THE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY, LUMBA IS AN INTERACTIVE LIGHT INSTALLATION THAT REFERENCES THE COMPETING VESSELS ON THE WATERFRONT. THE MOVEMENT OF LIGHTS UPON SAILS REFLECT THE VARYING EFFECT OF WIND ON THE SEA'S SURFACE. VISITORS CAN WALK BETWEEN THE STRUCTURES AND OBSERVE THE LIGHTS CHANGE TO WHITE IN RESPONSE TO THEIR MOVEMENTS. THE LIGHTING SEQUENCE CLOSES WITH A DYNAMIC ARRAY OF COLOURFUL ILLUMINATIONS.
